Scareground by Angela Kecojevic

Hi all, I am stunningly behind with my reading at the moment so I haven’t yet finished Scareground by Angela Kecojevic. Here’s an interim spotlight of this engaging, quirky middle grade novel to keep you going. My thoughts so far: I love Nancy as a character, her independence and fearless rooftop frolics. I love Nancy’s friendship with Arthur and their shared excitement about what the future may hold. I love the spooky, dark, theatrical nature of Skelter Tombola and his scareground- what secrets Re lurking? I love the overall air of mystery the not quite placeable time period. What is the significance of Nancy’s birthmark? I want to know more about the silver horses and Nancy’s origins. And why don’t the Crumpets like the idea of fairs…? Thanks so much to Dave from The Write Reads for my gorgeous gifted copy of the book.
